Leyla (in NYC) - Restaurant Week

While in NYC, I hit up Leyla in West Village for NYC Restaurant Week. I started out with a pea flan, before moving on to the Steelhead Salmon, served with red quinoa, eggplant, toasted pine nuts and a preserved lemon yogurt. The pea flan was better than expected, and the salmon also exceeded expectations. I really enjoyed the medium rare salmon paired with extremely crispy salmon skin. The eggplant was decent, as I was able to overcome my fear of eggplant stemming from the days of veggie tales (with that horrifying eggplant man) since I had to eat what I paid for (this meal was extremely pricy in terms of $/ounce of food). While the appetizer and entree both exceeded expectations, the white chocolate panna cotta for desert was one of the worst things I've ever eaten. The white chocolate part was OK, but the sauce that they drizzled on top tasted like acid infused feces. Overall, good meal, even though the service was kind of slow.
