This is how the GCM does thanksgiving.  A 12lb. turkey covered with 16 slices of maple bacon.  I should have used less bacon, as the lower layers didn't get enough love from the oven.  I think one layer probably works best so that the bacon is cooked properly, with MAYBE some of the fat getting removed from the strips.  The Thanksgiving meal was pretty good overall, with my brown sugar ham stealing the show (I marinade and then cook the ham in a brown sugar sauce -- which is basically just brown sugar and butter).  Side dishes served this year included mashed potatoes, Leaney's green bean casserole, chicken flavored rice, and STOVE TOP (yes, stove top) stuffing.  Good meal, way too much turkey.
